Polyurethane injection system has the following main purposes:

    • Protect concrete filling cracks in order to prevent external aggressions;
    • Stops leakage, even with heavy water flow, ensuring the integrity of the structure;
    • Solidify the structure, obtaining the original monolithicity, in the case of the injection of structural polyurethane.

Polyurethane resins have low viscosity, excellent adhesion, high durability are solvent-free, polymerized in the presence of water and are also impermeable.

TYPES OF RESINS

Polyurethane Resins can be either rigid or flexible:

    • Flexible: Flexible polyurethane injection is mainly used to seal and treat infiltrations in structures; is presented in the “foam” and “gel” formats. The resin that promotes permanent sealing is the polyurethane gel, the foam is used only to obtain the provisional seal, in order to allow the injection of the polyurethane gel, which will ensure the final tightness.
  • Rigid: The injection of Rigid Polyurethane polymerizes in the presence of water, so it is used to “weld” the structure by recomposing its monolithicity, the same as it was designed, in cracks and fissures that are wet or with water flow.

APPLICATIONS

Sealing

For filling and waterproofing cracks, flexible polyurethane injection technology is a recommended solution.

Its application can be realized in a wide diversity of structures, such as reservoirs, tunnels and highways, concrete pavements, underground galleries, foundations among others.

Structural

For the recomposition of structures, it is necessary to use materials with high mechanical resistance to compression, traction and shear.

For this, the ideal application is the Injection of Rigid Polyurethane, which has a great useful way and allows an even underwater application, since it polymerizes in the presence of water.
It is recommended to apply it in passive cracks, that is, they don’t move.

Waterproofing

The polyurethane injection techniques guarantee the waterproofing of the structures, completely stopping any type of leakage, even with the existence of intense water flow.

The polyurethane resins have low viscosity, high adhesion and are totally impermeable and resistant. The polyurethane injection protects and ensures the integrity of its structures.

WHEN A INFILTRATION PRESENTS FLOW WATER OR JET OF WATER, INJECTION SHOULD BE EXECUTED IN TWO STEPS

    • First, with Polyurethane Foam Injection, to temporarily stall the flow of water and allow the Injection of Polyurethane Gel;
    • With the infiltration contained, the injection of the polyurethane gel is performed, responsible for the final filling and sealing of the fissure.

Note: For the stabilization of rocky soil, it is already available the Resin Injection based on Rigid Polyurethane, which has fast hardening and high strength, in addition to foam expansion, occupying more volume than conventional systems (cement mix, for example).
