The Matriz de Santo Antônio is one of the greatest treasures of Brazilian architecture. Its construction took approximately 38 years, going from 1752 to 1790. As a period monument, it has undergone many renovations and the last one was made by the PGG.

The church is in the commercial center of Recife, at the intersection between Dantas Barreto and Nova.

The work is much loved by the residents, which is shown in this article about the importance of it, published by Jornal do Comércio: click here and check it out.
